About Wild Iris

GZ_PROFILE_smHello there,

Welcome to Wild Iris Records. Initially, I founded Wild iris in 2004 purely as a vehicle for my own recordings, but somehow it went beyond that. I think it started when I was recording Kylewilliam Campol and his imadethismistake project in 2006. Kyle convinced me that there were other possibilities and I guess he was right. Later that year I met Shawn Snyder and he became the first artist not named Zhen on the label.

In 2007, I worked with Shawn on producing and recording Romantic’s Requiem in my homespun studio in Ft. Lauderdale. The release has since gone on to much critical acclaim and has helped to pave the way for more. In the time since, Wild Iris has worked with several other artists and has released CDs and downloads across many different genres.

The Wild Iris sound isn’t something that can be pigeon-holed very easily. For instance, Shawn brings a round of bluesy folk to the table while Chorderoy, whose first release, The Playground EP, was recorded and released by Wild Iris in 2008, romps melodically through the power-pop charts. In the wings, the Brit-Pop sounds of Gabriel Spitfire can be heard dueling with F105 Thunderchief’s boisterous metal static. Then of course, you have my music, which kinda runs through the rock/pop gamut but is also known to be splintered with shards of melancholy.

The only thing you can find that strings together these divergent sounds is the spirit of creative thought, the soul of music unbridled by commercial constraint. After all, isn’t that where great music comes from?

So tour through the website, check out our online store and be sure to visit us on Facebook and Twitter. Support independence any which way you can. Buy some music, come out to a show or get a t-shirt. All of these things help us do what we love to do. Crush the static, embrace the arts and have a wonderful day!

Yours Truly,
